May 13: Beech Hill, Rockport
Beech Hill Preserve (Coastal Mountains Land Trust) has an easy 0.6-mile (one way) graded path to the summit. At the top, a stone hut built in 1914 — “Beech Nut” — gives us a perfect sheltered picnic spot. But the real reward (for minor effort) comes in the stunning views from all directions of Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills. Bring your binoculars for these vistas and to spot some of the 141 bird species found here!
